FAVOURITES FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE

Today, I am sharing a round-up of my favourites for the month of June. And I am starting with the best part: Celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary! We got married quite young for today’s standards… I was 22 years old and Steve was 23. We met while studying at McGill University during our Freshman year. Can you believe our wedding was 2 days after graduation?! Crazy, I know…but so much to celebrate and be thankful for!

For this beautiful milestone, we had dreamed of a big celebration with friends and family. Sadly, due to the Covid lockdown here in Toronto, it never materialized. So instead, we counted our blessings, opened our wedding photo album and watched our wedding day video. In the evening, we celebrated in a very intimate gathering with our children. A private affair full of gratitude, joy and, of course, great food. And you know me, food always plays a major role in my life and in this blog…. There was lots of bubbly, freshly steamed lobsters and the most beautiful, elegant anniversary cake of my dreams by @sugarfairykitchen – my favourite Toronto baker.

LIFESTYLE

When the weather permits, the hubby and I love to pack a picnic basket and head out to our favourite spots in one of the many parks and beaches that Toronto has to offer. For Mother’s Day this year, I was gifted a pretty and practical set of INSULATED WINE BOTTLE AND GLASSES. Since then, it has been in constant rotation!

The insulated bottle keeps our wine (or lemonade) chilled for a long time. The glasses are very sturdy and come with a lid! Such a well-thought design because no one likes bugs and grass in their glass, right? It was such a hit with us that I decided to include the set (in the SPIRAL BLUE colour) as part of my FATHER’S DAY GIFT GUIDE FOR 2021. FASHION

June weather was ideal for wearing this TEXTURED TWEED BLAZER from Zara. It has become one of my favourite transitional pieces! This tailored blazer is such a versatile item- you can style it casual, elegant or for the workforce. It is timeless and chic and works wonders for all body shapes, especially for those with a midsize figure like me. I want to purchase it in other colours, but my size keeps selling out. So I am stalking the Zara website often. Lol!

Another item that was on heavy rotation in June and still going strong in July is my newest pair of WHITE LEATHER SNEAKERS. I walk everywhere here in Toronto, so good and comfortable shoes are a must. I love the fact they have no flashy logos nor colour, so you can wear them with literally everything- including dresses and skirts. The style of this sneaker is such a classic one that it does not compete but rather adds to the vibe of any outfit. Chic, super comfy and at a great price point, too. Can’t go wrong with this pair.

And last but definitely not least is my newest bag- THE DEMI LUNE TOTE BAG. I purchased this beauty at Home Smith Interiors, my favourite neighbourhood shop. It is woven from soft but durable water hyacinth, and has ebonized circular wooden handles. I have been wearing this bag non-stop! Home Smith carries this model in two sizes: mine is the smaller size and a larger one is available, too. Keep your eyes peeled for this one because, in my opinion, with its chic handle, structured body and excellent quality this tote is a timeless and practical find.

Sleep? Check out Arianna Huffington’s HOW TO SUCCEED? GET MORE SLEEP! Also loved THE BRAIN BENEFITS OF DEEP SLEEP by Dan Gartenberg. Both are very good TED TALKS and super informative.

BEAUTY

In June, I tried two new skincare products from Vichy Laboratories and boy, do they ever feel amazing on my 52 year old skin. I enjoyed them so much that they made it to this list of favourites.

The first product is Vichy’s famous MINERAL 89 DAILY BOOSTER SERUM. Not new on the market, but new to me. According to the stats, this is the number one selling serum here in Canada! This skincare favourite is also recommended and used by dermatologists and beauty experts all around the world. Ideal for any age, you apply it right after cleansing your face and before any other treatment serums.

I also tried the equally amazing MINERAL 89 PROBIOTIC FRACTIONS SERUM – a regenerating and repairing booster for stressed and sensitized skin that works for all skin types. FOOD AND DRINK

This recipe for SPAGHETTI AGLIO e OLIO-is simple to make and so delicious. Perfect to savour as it is or customizable by adding a protein and/or veggies (which is what I sometimes do).

And yes, still majorly obsessed with this ZUCCHINI NOODLE SALAD. It is so good! I love that tangy flavour! And get the VEGETTI SPIRALIZER, so you can turn this Summer’s bounty of fresh zucchinis into healthy spaghetti! Enjoy!
