Although denim has been a staple for all seasons, runway shows continue to display this beloved fabric as a major force this Fall and Winter. Designers presented denim in many styles, finishes and categories. If you browse Instagram and Pinterest for spring fashion trends, you will notice one particular denim piece popping up repeatedly: the denim skirt. And let me tell you, I am loving the whole denim skirt vibe- long or short!
STYLING THE DENIM SKIRT
The denim skirt can be styled in so many different ways- and for all seasons, too! You can pair it with literally anything- it is that versatile. And I am a HUGE fan of an item that’s going to give me major cost per wear all year long.
First of all, this type of skirt is a great in-between item for transitional weather. Since denim is usually quite sturdy, it offers more warmth than linen or a lightweight cotton. So for the colder days, you can style the skirt with tall boots, a basic knit. Finish the look with either a bomber jacket or a long coat.
s the weather warms up, you can swap the footwear for sexy sandals, platform shoes or slides and wear a sleeveless racer back tank top or lighter fabric tops. Talk about a versatile item that is destined to be a staple all year long!
If you want a preppy vibe, wear the denim skirt with a beautiful crisp white button-down shirt, a brown leather belt and tan flats (sling-backs would work well, too). Craving a more minimalistic look? Add a simple t-shirt and a good metallic flat or a pair of white sneakers.
So many possibilities, ladies!
On a recent visit at the Mango store here in Toronto, I spotted this beautiful denim midi skirt in the most perfect shade of blue- not too dark, not too washed. I love the lines and the fact that it fits all body shapes. Furthermore, I find it is ideal for my midsize and curvy shaped gals.
And that sexy slit, tho!
