FIVE EARLY FALL FASHION ESSENTIALS

Today I am sharing with you my favourite early fall fashion essentials, my wardrobe must-haves. They are classics and neutrals that can be layered and styled according to the weather and mood. Some are new and some are last season, but they all are easy to wear, comfy and chic as ever.

We are currently enjoying beautiful autumn weather here in Toronto – crisp, blue skies and bright sunny days. These are the gorgeous days of autumn and the perfect time to bring out those transitional outfits we need for these warmer days.

THE MUST-HAVE FALL FASHION ESSENTIALS

SLEEVELESS VEST CARDIGAN

My Nanette Lepore vest is a few seasons old, but nevertheless it is a classic and is always on constant rotation. Soft and cozy with a relaxed fit, this open front cardi is easy to layer and the perfect “middle ground” fabric for those autumn days that require no jacket but some warmth. And let’s talk about those front patch pockets! They are large enough to slip your phone in as well as a little bottle of hand sanitizer and a face mask. Sadly, my vest is out of stock, but I have found a similar one on AMAZON that comes in a beautiful range of colors. 

SATIN BLOUSE

I love wearing this beautiful long satin H&M BLOUSE for both Fall and Winter. It is chic, understated, and very soft. This fall fashion essential is not only perfect for day or night, but also ideal to wear alone or mix with cozy, warm knits.

LEATHER TWO-WAY SHOULDER BAG

In my book, no outfit is complete without the proper handbag… it can make or break an outfit! And to top it off, during the Fall and Winter I am more concerned with function over form. My handbags have to withstand our Canadian weather- be it rain, snow or heavy winds and they have to fit well crossbody when I am wearing my warm winter coats. 

Ok, so let me tell you about this practical and ever so beautiful Coach TABBY bag that I purchased a year ago. I could not love it more! Coach has done outstanding work for the last two years- reinventing and modernizing their designs from their 1970’s archives. And, as always, keeping their high standards when it comes to working with leather.  As much as I love my luxury handbags, this TABBY 26 has become my fall “go-to” for running errands everyday.  It is constructed of pebbled and refined calf leather in a gorgeous oxblood colour, with antique brass hardware and two detachable straps for versatility of wear.  Add to that a back slip pocket for your phone and an inside space roomy enough for a standard wallet and voila! you have a very classic, chic and easy to wear handbag. This bag also comes in both black and chalk. BLACK DENIM

This type of denim has become my new classic and favorite for the season. I love both these Zara Hi-Rise JEANS and these super elastic JEGGINS not only because they hug my curvy body in all the right places, but because they are skinny enough so I can slip on my favourite tall and over-the-knee boots. And that’s why they are part of my fall fashion essentials list. Definitely a win-win here!

POINTED BOOTIE

Because I wear a hard to find size 11, I have an intense love affair with shoes, specifically boots. Although I wear and love all my booties, these pointed toe ones are my favourite. Sadly, I could not find a link for the ones I am wearing in the photos as they are really old, so I am linking the STEVIE leather pointed booties from J. Crew. They are the bomb! They feel updated and more chic and fancy compared to your typical round toe. Easy to slip in and wear and definitely more flattering- even for us gals with big feet.  You can’t go wrong with black or a rich cognac color… a classic forever.
